Regulated electricity networks - Regulatory Proposal for the 2024-29 regulatory period
Power and Water is the essential services provider in the Northern Territory (NT), providing gas, water, sewerage and electricity services. We are responsible for the distribution and transmission of electricity services for thousands of customers across the NT and seek to make a difference to the lives of Territorians.
Power and Water is regulated by the Australian Energy Regulator (AER), including the prices we are allowed to charge for services across the three regulated networks: Darwin-Katherine, Tennant Creek and Alice Springs.
The NT has experienced tremendous change and growth, including how people use our services and the networks we look after. Over the past 18 months, we have met and heard from energy stakeholders on what is important to them, to test plans and ensure we can provide the services required to meet customers’ needs now and into the future.
Our Regulatory Proposal and supporting documents were submitted to the AER on 31 January 2023 seeking approval of our five year plans - the 2024-2029 regulatory period.
These plans focus on four strategic priorities to maintain affordability and quality of services.
The key parts of the Proposal that are important to our stakeholders can be reviewed at Our future electricity plans.
Next steps
Customers are at the centre of everything we do. It is therefore vital they continue to be involved in the development and delivery of our plans. We will engage regularly with our stakeholders throughout the next 14 months as we further refine and finalise our forecasts for the 2024-2029 period.
