Power and Water is responsible for the ‘poles and wires’ that transport electricity from generators to your home or business. The electricity is generated by power stations owned by Territory Generation and other privately owned businesses. You are billed for your electricity service by your electricity retailer, which is predominantly Jacana Energy for most small customers, although other retailers offer the same retail service in the Territory.

The Australian Energy Regulator (AER) regulates the services we deliver through our regulated networks of Darwin-Katherine, Alice Springs and Tennant Creek. The AER requires that customers are engaged in shaping our forward plans.

Power and Water’s smaller networks outside these regions are not regulated by the AER and are therefore not the subject of this current engagement program.
