About the Specification
The EVSE Technical Specification provides electric vehicle supply equipment / electric vehicle supply and discharge equipment (EVSE/EVSDE) proponents with information about obligations for connection to, and interfacing with, our regulated and unregulated electricity networks.
This is a new document. It is part of a suite of documents developed to support the changing needs of our customers and the community, in line with our Future Network Strategy.
How the specification applies
This document applies to new low-voltage connections of EVSE, or modifications to existing EVSE, where the connection consists of a permanent installation of EVSE with a rated current of over 15A. This includes with or without generation or battery energy storage system/s.
The scope of this technical standard does not include:
- standard wall outlet charging equipment (charging modes 2)
- off-grid charging equipment i.e. not connected to the Power and Water network.
Our consultation plan
Consultation will include:
- Publishing materials, advising and requesting feedback via email. This stage of consultation will close on 7 March 2025.
- Hosting an online forum with stakeholders in March 2025. This stage of consultation will involve discussing feedback received via email or at the forum. All feedback will be considered.
- Incorporating feedback and publishing the updated specification online in April 2025, when it will come into effect.
- Advising stakeholders via email of the publication link and date of effect.
