Power and Water hosts That’s My Water! Expo for Darwin students

Power and Water’s 2024 That’s My Water! initiative has seen 600 students from eight schools in Darwin find out more about the Top End’s water story.

Designed to promote water usage awareness, inspire career interest in STEM and challenge students to think about a more sustainable water future, the That’s My Water! Program features an Expo where students share their projects.

This year’s Expo took place on the first day of National Water Week at the George Brown Darwin Botanic Gardens earlier this week, celebrating the conclusion of the 2024 program.

The Expo showcased innovative sustainable water solutions developed by students, who had the opportunity to present their ideas to industry experts from Power and Water and the Northern Territory Government.

This year’s projects included a diverse range of creative solutions such as apps, videos, and prototypes focused on leak detection, water filtration, evaporation reduction and improved irrigation systems.

‘It’s inspiring to see how passionate and invested our young people are in securing a sustainable water future.

‘The creativity and innovation displayed by the students truly reflect their commitment to addressing water challenges across the Darwin region. Programs like That’s My Water! empower the next generation to take meaningful action in their communities.’ Ms Blizzard said.

That’s My Water! has been developed in partnership with the Northern Territory Department of Education since 2016. Schools interested in participating next year are encouraged to look out for an expression of interest form on the Power and Water website in coming months.
