Supporting women and girls in AFL
Power and Water has teamed up with AFLNT to sponsor the Women in Football Celebration event, with the launch of the Women and Girls Action Plan, which was launched on Thursday 16 March at the Michael Long Learning and Leadership Centre.
The celebration showcased the outstanding achievements and contributions by local female athletes to AFL in the Territory, against the backdrop of the launch of the action plan to strengthen participation and representation of women and girls across the football community.
Special guest Debbie Lee, AFL Hall of Fame member, spoke at the event and shared her journey in developing and leading woman’s professional sports recognition in Australia.
Power and Water’s General Manager People, Culture and Safety, Ian Jackson welcomed the launch of AFLNT’s Women’s and Girls Action Plan.
‘This plan will not only foster women and girls in leadership, it will also provide development pathways for players and umpires and contribute to social benefits for Territorians,’ Mr Jackson said.
‘Power and Water’s sponsorship and community partnerships contribute to building strong community connections and we are proud to work with organisations that give back to Territorians in meaningful ways, such as this event.
‘I congratulate all the hardworking people behind the development of this plan and look forward to watching it drive women and girls’ participation in AFL and Territory representation on the national stage.’
