We are the Northern Territory's sole network service provider.
We build, maintain and upgrade infrastructure, including poles, wires and substations. We also install and read the electricity meters on your property.
If you live in a remote community or in the townships of Jabiru, Alyangula and Nhulunbuy, we are also your power retailer.
Power and Water is currently transitioning our electricity network regulation from the local Utilities Commission to the Australian Energy Regulator (AER) with effect from 1 July 2019.
Power and Water at a glance:
If you are experiencing a power outage:
- Check our planned works page for maintenance in your area.
- Follow PowerWaterCorp on Facebook or X for updates.
- Call 1800 245 092 at any time day or night, but please allow 15 minutes before calling us. We must wait 15 minutes before attempting to safely re-energise the line.
If you see a life-threatening or dangerous situation such as a power line on the ground, call 000 or the Power and Water emergency line on 1800 245 090 immediately.
For most Territorians, we are the power distributor. It is likely you are purchasing your electricity from a power retailer, so if you have questions about your bill, you should check your power bill for information about who to contact.
However, if you live in a remote community or in the townships of Jabiru, Alyangula and Nhulunbuy, we are both the power distributor and retailer. In this case, you should contact us.
The Utilities Commission of the Northern Territory have set out Guaranteed Service Levels with regard to the duration and frequency of power interruptions. Find out about your eligibility and compensation mechanisms.
