Ten community groups across the Northern Territory are the latest recipients of a Power and Water Community Grant, receiving up to $5,000 each to support initiatives that make a difference to the lives of Territorians.

The grants are part of Power and Water’s Community Partnerships program, which gives back to the community to benefit Territorians in urban, regional and remote communities.

Power and Water Deputy Chief Executive Officer John Pease said the program supports customers by supporting a diverse range of projects and initiatives that benefit them.

‘Power and Water provides Community Grants to passionate organisations delivering important community projects,’ he said.

‘Projects we are supporting in 2025 include a two-day soccer program in Wurrumiyanga to promote health and well-being, support for young athletes in Katherine to attend the regional School of Sport competition and help with training and equipment for Nightcliff Seabreeze Festival volunteers.’

The Special Children’s Christmas Party was a 2024 Community Grant recipient. Manager Donna Bowen said the grant helped strengthen the event’s success.

‘The party helped children facing significant health challenges forget about their therapy and treatment for a few hours and allowed them to have fun and enjoy the festive season with their families and other community members,’ Ms Bowen said. ‘The grant helped us create a magical and inclusive experience.’

The Community Partnerships program also includes major partnerships and in-kind support for local organisations that bring communities together, support well-being initiatives and celebrate unique and diverse cultures across the Territory.

‘In 2025, our Community Partnerships program is expected to support more than 100 community organisations,’ Mr Pease said. ‘And we aim to match our 2024 in-kind support for community events, with our water trailer set up at more than 130 community events in Darwin, Katherine, Tennant Creek and Alice Springs.’
