Power and Water is supporting the Northern Territory Government’s target of 50% renewables by 2030, which includes an average 70% target across remote communities serviced by Indigenous Essential Services.
A renewable energy future is another step closer for the Tiwi Islands thanks to a pilot solar project in Wurrumiyanga.
Wurrumiyanga is already operating on some solar. The Solar Infill and Energy Storage Pilot Project will provide an additional 1.1 megawatt solar array, together with a 1.75 MVA battery energy storage system.
The battery energy storage system components are currently undergoing testing at the test site at Berrimah.
