Power and Water’s expertise is in the spotlight at Australia’s premier water conference this week, with presentations from industry experts and three projects nominated as finalists in the Australian Water Awards.
OzWater’23 is being held in Sydney from 10 to 12 May.
'OzWater is a terrific forum to showcase some of the great work our people do every day to make a difference to Territorians by delivering safe, sustainable and secure water to our community,' Power and Water’s Executive General Manager Water Service Steven Porter said.
Senior Headworks Planning Engineer, Trevor Durling is presenting on the development of ‘The Adelaide River Off-stream Water Storage (AROWS) project: Turning a bright idea into an investment-ready project’.
Power and Water first identified the AROWS project as the preferred long term water source for the greater Darwin region in 2013. Jointly funded by the Northern Territory and Australian Governments, the project is a key enabler of the NT Government’s plans for a $40B economy by 2030.
Joel Spry, Manager Water Demand will highlight Power and Water’s “That’s My Water!” school education program at the State of Origin Water Efficiency Workshop. Delivered in partnership with the Department of Education in urban and remote schools, the award winning program is one of the most important initiatives of Power and Water’s water demand management program.
'We believe that students should be learning about their own water story and, wherever possible, from Elders and Traditional Owners from their own community, often in language,' said Mr Porter.
Power and Water’s commitment to improving water quality services in urban and remote communities will also be recognised at the Australian Water Awards in three categories:
Organisational Excellence Award - Drinking Water Quality Management System Improvement: 2016 to 2021
Infrastructure project innovation award (regional) - Remote Housing Program – Headworks
R&D Excellence Award - Transforming Wastewater Treatment in Regional Australia
'Our passionate experts continually strive to improve water quality services across urban and remote community, and I congratulate our teams on their nominations,' said Mr Porter.
